Am I developing a latex allergy
Question: In the last 21/2 months or so, I have noticed that my vagina would get irritated when my lover and I would have sex. At first I thought that it was the warming lubricant (water soluble) that he was using, but I had used it in the past on my own with my vibrator with no problems.
But I have recently been using the same vibe, which is a rabbit-type vibe with other water soluble lubricants, and I am still getting irritated. Yes, I have always taken care to wash the vibe well after each use, and I do not share
my toys.
I also recently had my Gyno exam and I am completely healthy.
My question is, is it possible to suddenly develop a latex allergy? If so how can I still gain pleasure from using my vibe? And more importantly what can I do to protect myself from STDs without discomfort?
Answer: It's possible to develop a latex allergy suddenly. You might have one. To investigate this, explain your situation to your doctor and ask for a referral to an allergist/immunologist who can test you for latex allergy.
But you might not have a latex allergy. How vigorous is the intercourse you have with your lover? Vigorous intercourse can cause vaginal irritation, especially if it's extended--even if it's well lubricated. You might try a slower pace, and ask your lover to thrust less forcefully.
How vigorously do you use your rabbit vibe? Here, too, you might try gentler play. It's also possible that you're sensitive to some lube ingredient(s). Try some different lubes, and try olive oil. See if varying lubricants helps.
What about your underwear? Synthetic fabrics trap moisture and can cause chafing and irritation. Wear cotton panties. What about your toilet paper and laundry detergent? Scented brands can cause irritation. Use unscented.
